Ранее сообщалось, что первый SSD-накопитель Seagate появится в 2008 г. <br /><br />По словам Воткинса, первый SSD-накопитель Seagate, отличающийся более высокой скоростью работы и более низким энергопотреблением в сравнении с традиционными жесткими дисками, будет предназначен для промышленного сектора: систем хранения данных, серверов и т.д. – так как именно в этой области скорость и экономичность накопителей важны в наибольшей степени. Он также заявил, что производство твердотельной памяти не займет в бизнесе Seagate центральное место, пока стоимость такой памяти не опустится примерно до 10 центов за гигабайт.
