Так, непрерывное чтение информации происходит со скоростью 200 МБ в секунду, а записи – 160 МБ в секунду. Первая величина вдвое превышает предыдущее значение, вторая – более чем в два раза. Корпус SSD – один из самых тонких, его толщина равняется 9,5 мм, что позволит выполнить монтаж даже в тонкий и небольшой ноутбук. <br /><br />В накопителе использована многоуровневая структура ячеек (MLC) вместо одноуровневой ранее (SLC). В компании утверждают, что переход на новую технологию позволил сделать новые диски более дешевыми. Кроме того, благодаря улучшению контроллера, SSD имеют более продолжительный срок бесперебойной эксплуатации, сравнимый с SSD-накопителями с одноуровневой структурой ячеек, и даже с обычными вращающимися магнитными дисками. <br /><br />Новые устройства емкостью 256 ГБ в форм-факторе 2,5 дюйма отправятся производителям портативной электроники для тестов в сентябре 2008 г. Массовые продажи дисков планируется начать в конце года. Поставки 1,8-дюймовых SSD 256 ГБ начнутся в IV квартале. <br /><br />Ранее компания Mtron выпустила SSD-накопитель со скоростью чтения информации 130 МБ в секунду и записи 120 МБ в секунду. Ни одна другая компания не выпустила твердотельный диск быстрее. Вероятно, Samsung станет первым. <br />
