Выпуск телевизора Sony XEL-1 обозначил весомую веху в развитии индустрии дисплеев — ведь этот продукт стал первым с такой диагональю, где использовалась активная матрица органических светодиодов (AMOLED).

При цене в 1740 долларов за 11 дюймов новинка быстро нашла своих покупателей, охотящихся за эксклюзивными на сегодня характеристиками контрастности (1000000:1) и уровнем яркости черного фона (0,01 нит). Напомним, ни плазменные, ни жидкокристаллические дисплеи сегодня не могут предложить ничего подобного.

В то же время, опасения по поводу долговечности решения, высказывавшиеся специалистами еще в момент его запуска, подтверждаются с лихвой. Компания DisplaySearch опубликовала некоторые данные о «старении» матрицы XEL-1. По ее измерениям, реальное время её жизни при показе лишь белого цвета составляет всего 5000 часов, а условиях демонстрации реальной телекартинки оно составит 17 тысяч часов, т.е. около 2 лет беспрерывного просмотра.

Деградация же изображения начнется куда ранее. По данным исследователей, яркость синей составляющей изображения за тысячу часов снизилась на 12%, красной — на 7%, зеленой — на 8%. В сумме это может привести к заметным искажениям при цветопередаче уже через каких то полгода использования изделия.

Интересно, выльется ли такое исследование в очереди желающих вернуть XEL-1 в магазины? Если так, то Sony может стоять перед лицом второго крупного скандала за пару лет. В памяти еще свежа история с горящими батареями для ноутбуков.
