Самый крупный тайваньский производитель оптических накопителей половинной высоты получил крупный заказ от Dell. Как утверждает источник, ссылаясь на изготовителей чипсетов и других ключевых компонент, компания Lite-On IT должна будет поставлять по 20000-30000 накопителей Blu-ray Disc (BD)-ROM ежемесячно.<br /><br />Указанный объем добавится к накопителям BD-ROM и устройствам с поддержкой записи на новые носители, уже выпускаемым компанией. Лицензию на выпуск этих продуктов производитель получил путем образования совместного предприятия Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions.<br /><br />По словам источников, знакомых с ситуацией в отрасли, Hewlett-Packard, Sony и Acer рассматривают возможность включения приводов, рассчитанных на оптические носители нового поколения, в конфигурацию своих настольных ПК. Напомним, пока производители ноутбуков и настольных ПК отдают предпочтение приводам BD-ROM.<br /><br />Помимо того, как утверждается, Lite-On IT ведет разработку встроенного привода BD-ROM для игровой консоли Microsoft.
