Мы все знаем, что на PlayStation 3 можно поставить операционную систему Linux с одним из ее дистрибутивов (Fedora Core 5 и затем Yellow Dog Linux v5). Что превратит консоль от Sony в полноценный персональный компьютер. Однако, сейчас такие действия нужны скорее всего только для энтузиастов. Вряд ли обычный геймер, владеющий PC или Mac заинтересуется данным функционалом. Однако, на днях было заявлено о выходе нового дистрибутива Yellow Dog Linux v6.0, что побудило нас написать данную новость.

Согласно сайту Terra Soft 6-я версия Yellow Dog Linux будет идти предустановленной на PlayStation 3. Если быть точнее, то на специальной версии Yellow Dog PS3. То есть, мучаться с установкой уже не придется. Единственное, что этот бандл надо будет заказывать с сайта Yellow Dog, однако, его стоимость не будет превышать рекомендованной стоимости от самой Sony.

Зачем это нужно? Во-первых, для того, чтобы создать некий стандарт для разработчиков. Во-вторых. В комплекте поставки идет пакет Cell SDK v3.0. Как явствует из названия, он увеличивает возможности по работе программистов с PlayStation 3 и ее процессором. А это значит, что в будущем появятся программы под Linux, разработанные специально для PlayStation 3 с учетом всех ее возможностей. А, следовательно, эта консоль сможет в будущем с успехом полностью заменять персональный компьютер. Вплоть до вопросов о полноценной работе. Интересно, не правда ли?
