Что касается энергопотребления, то она потребляет в два раза меньше электроэнергии, чем средний 32-дюймовый LCD-дисплей. Более того, время наработки на отказ для устройства составляет 35 тысяч часов. На данный момент это лучший показатель для существующих AMOLED-дисплеев. Как известно, одним из самых существенных недостатков OLED-дисплеев является их сравнительно низкое время наработки на отказ, тем не менее, похоже, что специалисты Samsung с этой проблемой справились.<br /><br />Пока представители Samsung не сообщили, когда начнётся массовое производство таких дисплеев. Однако, как стало известно, серийное производство 14-дюймовых AMOLED-дисплеев запланировано на начало 2008 года. Ориентировочная стоимость такого устройства составляет приблизительно 3 миллиона корейских вон (3190 долларов США).<br /><br />До этого японская корпорация Sony уже представила прототип OLED-телевизора с размером экрана 27 дюймов. В ноябре Sony начала продажи 11-дюймовых OLED-телевизоров XEL-1. По мнению аналитиков, OLED-дисплеи придут на смену своим предшественникам, LCD дисплеям, в ближайшие годы, так как они обеспечивают большую яркость и потребляют меньше энергии.
