В свете растущего спроса на большие ЖК-телевизоры компания Samsung решила инвестировать около $2,2 млрд. в производство панелей с диагональю 46 и 52 дюйма. Со ссылкой на официального представителя корейской компании сообщается, что на заводе, построенном вместе с компанией Sony в рамках совместного предприятия S-LCD Corporation, будет установлена новая производственная линия. Запустить её планируется в третьем квартале 2008 года. После выхода линии на максимальную проектную мощность Samsung рассчитывает выпускать дополнительно около 60 тыс. стеклянных подложек восьмого поколения (8G) в месяц.<br /><br />Источник обращает внимание на то, что расширение производства будет финансироваться исключительно корейской стороной. Японский партнёр по предприятию S-LCD, компания Sony, не собирается вкладывать в данный проект собственные средства. Обе компании воздержались от комментариев по этому вопросу.<br /><br />Следует отметить, что во второй половине этого года Samsung и Sony совместными усилиями ввели в строй новую производственную линию восьмого поколения. Максимальный ежемесячный выход составляет 50 тыс. стеклянных подложек, предназначенных для ЖК-телевизоров с диагональю около 50 дюймов. Строительство линии потребовало общих инвестиций объёмом $1,9 млрд. Таким образом, совокупная производительность двух новых линий восьмого поколения в конце 2008 года составит около 110 тыс. подложек в месяц, что должно укрепить предприятие S-LCD на позиции крупнейшего поставщика больших телевизионных ЖК-панелей.<br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1196186429_66634.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='S-LCD: Samsung расширяет ЖК-производство без Sony' /></div><br /><br />Тем временем, один из основных конкурентов S-LCD, компания Sharp, в текущем месяце собирается открыть завод по производству стеклянных подложек десятого поколения (10G) размером 2850 x 3050 мм. Это позволит ещё больше увеличить диагональ готовых ЖК-панелей и уменьшить их себестоимость. Такие подложки дадут начало ЖК-панелям с диагональю 57 или 65 дюймов. Что касается, линии восьмого поколения, она предусматривает выпуск стеклянных заготовок размером 2200 x 2500 мм. Каждая из них может быть разрезана на восемь ЖК-панелей размером 46 дюймов или шесть 52-дюймовых панелей.<br /><br />Однако не стоит думать, что компании Samsung и Sony озабочены только развитием производства ЖК-панелей восьмого поколения. Партнёры близки к освоению производства дисплеев десятого поколения. Более того, Samsung не скрывает того, что располагает технологиями для выпуска стеклянных подложек 11 поколения (11G) размером 3200 x 3600 мм, ориентированных на ЖК-телевизоры с диагональю 70 дюймов и выше. Однако, по словам представителя Samsung, который ссылается на нынешнюю ситуацию на ЖК-рынке, запускать подобный проект пока рано.
