Discovery Networks в Европе, на Ближнем Востоке и в Африке (EMEA), подразделение ведущей в мире медиакомпании Discovery Communications, сообщает о переходе Discovery Channel в России на новый спутник. Начиная с 1 декабря 2007 года, передачи Discovery Channel будут транслироваться со спутника LMI/ABS 1 (75о в.д.). Это позволит Discovery Networks EMEA установить вещание по всей территории России.

Переход на новый спутник рассматривается Discovery Networks как техническая база для активного развития бизнеса Discovery в России с учетом российской специфики.

Для организации передачи сигнала на всю территорию России Discovery Networks Europe EMEA использует транспондер 6N на спутнике связи LMI/ABS-1 75о восточной долготы (поляризация вертикальная, частота 12670.50 MHz, Symbol Rate 22.00 MS/s, система коррекции ошибок 7/8, кодирование сигнала Irdeto 2). Спутник охватывает всю территорию России, а также большую часть территорий стран Содружества. Вещание со спутника начнется с 1 декабря 2007 года, и переход местных операторов на прием сигнала со спутника LMI/ABS-1 завершится 1 января 2008 года.
