Компания Samsung сообщила о том, что плеер BD-UP5000, который скоро должен появиться в продаже, будет совместим с Profile 1.1, однако Gizmodo сообщает, что плеер будет требовать нового программного обновления для того, чтобы реально поддерживать параметры 1.1.

Как говорилось раньше: Ассоциация Blu-ray выпустила поручение о том, что все Blu-ray плееры, выпускаемые после 31-го Октября 2007 года должны поддерживать серию параметров для того, чтобы быть совместимыми с Profile 1.1. Данные обновления позволят применять некоторые функции, не доступные раннее, включая функцию просмотра true видео 'картинка в картинке'.
И хотя мы сообщали, что плеер BD-UP50000 будет поддерживать Profile 1.1, сегодняшние новости внесли некоторую сумятицу в этот вопрос.
В сообщении в прессе не было сказано конкретно почему необходимо программное обновление для поддержки Profile 1.1, тем более что о нем ничего не говорилось при анонсе того же двуформатного плеера BH-200 от LG, который вскоре должен появится в магазинах.
На сегодняшний момент еще никто не заявил о выпуске дисков с параметрами 1.1. Так, например, студия Warner решила выпустить свой первый фильм (‘Терминатор 3’) с возможностью PiP (картинка в картинке) без использования Profile 1.1., применив при этом технологию ‘burned-in’ PiP window.
BD-UP5000 должен появится в продаже в середине Декабря по цене $1050.
