Sonу Electronics анонсировала компьютерный Blu-ray-привод второго поколения BWU-200S, способный записывать диски BD-R со скоростью 4х и DVD±R со скоростью 16x. Устройство записывает BD-R вдвое быстрее, чем приводы прошлого поколения - прожиг 50-гигабайтного Blu-ray-диска занимает примерно 45 минут.<br /><br />Привод выполнен в форм-факторе 5,25 дюймов с интерфейсом SATA и поставляется в комплекте с программным обеспечением CyberLink BD. Оно позволяет переписывать видео с разрешением 1080i пикселей с видеокамер, создавать и редактировать фильмы, просматривать их и записывать на лазерные диски. На один BD-R емкостью 50 ГБ может поместиться до 230 минут видео с указанным разрешением.<br /><br />BWU-200S поддерживает запись однослойных DVD±R/RW и DVD-RAM емкостью 4,7 ГБ, двухслойных DVD±R емкостью 8,5 ГБ, а также обыкновенных компакт-дисков.
