На международной выставке Ceatec 2007 в Токио компания Hitachi продемонстрировала экспериментальный четырёхслойный диск Blu-ray, способный вместить до 100 Гбайт данных. Хотя проект находится пока что в разработке, нельзя не удивиться возможностям нового Blu-ray проигрывателя, способного считывать данные такого объёма с единственного носителя.<br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/1191521160_189770.jpg" style="border: none;" alt='Hitachi втиснет в Blu-ray диски до 200 Гбайт данных' title='Hitachi втиснет в Blu-ray диски до 200 Гбайт данных' /></div><br /><br />Hitachi также продемонстрировала восьмислойные диски, поддерживающие объём записываемых данных до 200 Гбайт. До этого момента прототип Blu-ray Disk (BD), анонсированный компанией Sony в Корее в 2004 году, также предоставлял возможность записи данных общей вместимостью 200 Гбайт на восемь слоёв, гарантируя высокую скорость работы с диском. На данный момент перед разработчиками стоит проблема ослабевания сигнала лазера при прохождении через все восемь слоёв. Однако, по мнению инженеров из Hitachi, есть возможность получить к данным доступ путём повышения мощности подающегося сигнала.<br /><br />К сожалению, пока ещё ничего не ясно по поводу того, когда новый носитель увидит свет и сколько он будет стоить.
