Пару месяцев назад ассоциация VESA утвердила интерфейс DisplayPort 1.1 для использования в дисплеях с плоским экраном, проекторах и вычислительной технике. Напомним, что новый интерфейс упрощает процесс подключения устройств вывода информации, а также дает возможность производителям постепенно отказаться от интерфейсов LVDS, DVI, VGA и использовать все преимущества цифрового интерфейса нового поколения. О перспективности нового интерфейса говорит заинтересованность в нём большого числа крупных ИТ-компаний, среди которых можно отметить AMD, Intel, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, NVIDIA, Philips, Samsung.

Пока что устройства с портами DisplayPort всё еще остаются диковинкой, но, судя по всему, ситуация должна вскоре измениться в лучшую сторону. Ведь мы уже неоднократно слышали о готовящихся к выпуску мониторах, видеокартах и других устройствах, оборудованных интерфейсом следующего поколения.

На мероприятии IDF Fall 2007 журналистам интернет-ресурса Fudzilla удалось запечатлеть видеокарту, основанную на чипе G92, которая оборудована VGA-выходом и двумя портами DisplayPort. Информации о новинке пока что очень мало. Известно лишь, что эта видеокарта будет выполнена в однослотовом варианте и не потребует дополнительного внешнего питания.
