Texas Instruments (TI) начала производство тестовых экземпляров супердешевого 2-ядерного процессора (RISC/DSP), который является последним пополнением линейки процессоров DaVinci.<br /><br />TMS320DM355 является системой на чипе (SoC, system-on-chip) и работает под управлением ОС Windows CE. При декодировании потока 720р в MPEG-4 процессор TMS320DM355 потребляет всего лишь 400мВт энергии. В режиме бездействия — потребление и вовсе мизерно, всего 1 мВт. Сообщается, что это продлит время автономной работы устройств, как минимум, вдвое, по сравнению с сегодняшними решениями, доступными на рынке.<br /><br />Внутри процессор TI представляет собой ядро ARM926EJ-S RISC, которое работает на частотах 216-270 МГц и DSP (digital signal processor), частота которого 640 МГц. Сопроцессоры MPEG-4 и JPEG co-processor (MJCP) позволяют быстро работать с медийным контентом — при работе с 720p HD MPEG-4 SP обеспечивается скорость де/кодирования, равная 30 фпс, а скорость обработки JPEG — 50 Мп/с (по данным TI).<br /><br />Процессор DM355 оборудован встроенным контроллером памяти (EMIF), который работает с DDR2 SDRAM или с недорогой памятью NAND.
