1 сентября CNN Worldwide запустил CNN-HD - свой первый круглосуточный новостной канал в формате high-definition. Являющийся американской версией SD-канала в технологии Simulcast, CNN-HD будет транслировать еженедельно более 60 часов программ, произведенных в формате HD.<br /><br />Данный проект является началом перехода к HD, и CNN теперь будет производить в Нью-Йорке все свои программы в формате HD, включая программу "CNN Presents" ("CNN представляет") и документальный цикл "CNN: Special Investigations Unit" ("CNN: Отдел специальных расследований"), а также в HD будут создаваться репортажи об особых событиях. Кроме того, в HD будет представлена четвертая часть документального сериала "Planet in Peril" ("Планета в опасности").<br />И это только первый шаг. Планы CNN относительно HD включают в себя модернизацию оборудования и средств производства для сетевого процесса сбора новостей и внестудийного производства по всему миру. "Введение HD это яркий пример нашего стремления к инновациям", - сказал Джим Уолтон, президент CNN Worldwide.<br />Конкретные соглашения по дистрибьюции канала в Европе пока не заключены, а в США DTH-оператор DirecTV уже транслирует программы этого HD-канала.
