Финляндия перешла на цифровое ТВ-вещание. В ранние утренние часы в субботу, 1 сентября, страна полностью перешла на новый формат вещания, опередив другие страны, приступившие лишь к постепенному переходу, включая соседнюю Швецию. Первые цифровые телетрансляции прошли в Финляндии еще в 2001 году.<br /><br />Примечательно, что большее количество домовладельцев еще полностью не осознало, что для этого необходимо. Исследование, проведенное в середине августа, обнаружило, что 220 тысяч домов все еще полностью зависят от наземного сигнала и им еще предстоит приобрести адаптер. А потому Finnish cable сейчас предоставил время до февраля 2008 года на их приобретение.<br />Доходы от перехода цифровое вещание позволят запустить 7 новых цифровых каналов, на первом этапе это произойдет в южной и центральной частях Финляндии. В число новых каналов войдут Discovery Channel, Eurosport, KinoTV (фильмы), MTV3 Fakta (документальныe картины), MTV (музыка), Nickelodeon и Swedish SVT Europa.
