Продажи дисков Blu-ray продолжают расти Согласно исследованию Home Media Magazine, продажи фильмов на дисках Blu-ray в первой половине текущего года вдвое превзошли продажи кинокартин, записанных на оптические носители конкурирующего формата HD DVD.

Как сообщает Reuters со ссылкой на исследование Home Media Magazine, в период с 1 января по 1 июля нынешнего года на территории Соединенных Штатов были распроданы порядка 1,6 миллиона дисков Blu-ray. Объем продаж HD DVD за тот же период оставил около 795 тысяч экземпляров.

В целом, с момента появления оптических дисков DVD нового поколения в начале прошлого года их суммарный объем продаж достиг отметки в 3,7 миллиона единиц. По состоянию на конец прошлого месяца были распроданы 2,2 миллиона дисков Blu-ray и 1,5 миллиона оптических носителей HD DVD.

Между тем, наблюдается рост продаж носителей Blu-ray и за пределами Соединенных Штатов, в частности, в Сингапуре, Гонконге и Восточной Европе. Также отмечается увеличение спроса на бытовые DVD-плееры нового поколения. Причем здесь перевес пока остается за устройствами с поддержкой HD DVD. Дело в том, что самый недорогой плеер HD DVD производства Toshiba стоит около 300 долларов США, тогда как устройства Blu-ray начального уровня предлагаются по цене в 500-600 долларов.

Кстати, стоит заметить, что онлайновый магазин Amazon.com недавно сообщил о намерении выпустить 1000 фильмов независимых режиссеров и продюсеров в формате HD DVD. Выбранные фильмы будут распространяться через принадлежащий ритейлеру онлайновый сервис видео по требованию CustomFlix.
