Кроме размеров экрана, телевизор примечателен несколькими технологиями, использованными при его создании. Philips 47PFL7642D отвечает стандартам, определенным EICTA, то есть имеет экран HD, на котором видны преимущества разрешения и качества изображения телесигнала высокого разрешения. Может отображать сигналы с разрешением 720p и 1080i пикселей с частотой 50 и 60 Гц.

Как сообщается, в Philips 47PFL7642D задействовано несколько новых технологических решений. В частности, Pixel Plus — цифровая технология обработки изображения, которая увеличивает количество строк и пикселей, в том числе в сигнале стандарта HD. Результатом является четкое изображение, отличная детализация и глубина — от любых источников. Функция гребенчатого фильтра (3D Combfilter) лучше разделяет сигналы яркости и цветности в объемной области, что устраняет перекрестные помехи по яркости и цвету, а также сползание точек.

Помимо этого, в телевизор Philips 47PFL7642D встроен цифровой тюнер для приема DVB-T и использована технология обработки аудиосигнала Incredible Surround.
