В то время, когда приставка PS3 была выброшена на прилавки, она преподносилась как самый функциональный Blu-ray-плеер на рынке. Но, похоже, у владельцев новых приставок появился повод почувствовать себя обманутыми. Как недавно обнаружилось, несмотря на наличие поддержки HDMI самой последней и продвинутой версии 1.3, программное обеспечение приставки не поддерживает побитовую передачу аудио-контента (что подтвердили и представители Sony).
Похоже, владельцы PS3 останутся без Dolby TrueHD и DTS HD

Самое большое огорчение постигнет счастливых обладателей новейших (и отнюдь не дешевых) ресиверов ( например таких моделей, как ONKYO TX-SR575, TX-SR705, TX-SR805 и TX-SR875), которые не смогут насладиться фантастическим звуком в форматах Dolby TrueHD и DTS HD, из-за отсутствия необходимой функциональности в их PS3. В принципе, приставка поддерживает декодирование Dolby TrueHD, но если звук в этом формате пойдет на ресивер в виде несжатого аудио, то внутренний (и более качественный) декодер ресивера не будет задействован, а это приведет к досадной потере качества звука.
