Накануне представители японского гиганта уже заявили о планах серьезно снизить капзатраты на этом направлении. Как отмечается, за последние три года на эти нужды было истрачено $3.8 млрд.<br /><br />Похоже, под нож, в первую очередь, могут попасть затраты на 45 нм техпроцесс, внедрение которого в компании запланировали на конец 2008 - начало 2009 года. В настоящее время Sony решает - настолько ли необходим выпуск процессоров (в частности, речь идет о чипах Cell) собственными силами или имеет смысл положиться в этом вопросе на аутсорсинг. Стоимость перехода на новый техпроцесс растет с каждым разом все сильнее и сильнее, что уже сейчас наводит Sony на мысль о целесообразности отказа от производства всех чипов исключительно на своих мощностях.<br />Иными словами, учитывая катастрофические затраты на Playstation 3, можно не сомневаться: от менеджеров Sony потребуют сокращения расходов любыми средствами. От чего, конечно же, выиграют тайваньские TSMC и UMC, на мощностях которых наверняка впоследствии и будет производиться Cell.
