В частности, по сведениям аналитиков из iSuppli, на каждой 60-гигабайтной PS3 компания Sony теряет около 240 долларов, в то время как Microsoft недополучает порядка 125 долларов с каждой проданной консоли. <br /><br />Способов исправить такое положение дел немного: увеличить розничную стоимость приставок или удешевить производство. Разумеется, второй пункт куда предпочтительнее, потому и Sony и Microsoft уже задумались о переходе на 65-нанометровый техпроцесс. <br /><br />На проходившей недавно конференции инвесторов представители компании Sony сказали о том, что основная часть используемых в приставке чипов в скором времени будет производится по 65-нм техпроцессу. Это позволит заметно сократить расходы на производство всей консоли, поскольку 65-нанометровые микросхемы несколько дешевле тех, что производятся по 90-нм техпроцессу. <br /><br />Корпорация Microsoft, в своб очередь, не отстаёт от японского конкурента и также намеревается переводить производство некоторых компонентов на 65-нм «рельсы». В этом ей поможет её давний партнёр – компания Chartered Semiconductor, которая должна начать производство новых чипов ближе к середине этого года.
