Компания NEC сообщила сегодня о выходе нового поколения чипов для HD DVD устройств, относящегося к линейке EMMA. Декодер и процессор EMMA4 может быть использован в HD DVD плеерах, рекордерах и любых других системах, работающих с данным форматом видео высокого разрешения.<br /><br />Чип декодирует видеопотоки MPEG2, H.264 и VC-1, работает с изображением и звуком, записанным на HD DVD. Его предшественник, EMMA3, уже устанавливается в такие HD DVD плееры, как Toshiba HD-XA2 и HD-A2. Доля рынка процессоров для обычных DVD у компании NEC достигает 30%, что в эквиваленте поставок соответствует более чем 3 млн проданных чипов.<br /><br />EMMA – это флагманская серия АВ-процессоров компании, которая на данный момент включает 20 различных чипов. Процессоры эти используются в производстве своих устройство более, чем 50 различными компаниями, всего их было поставлено уже свыше 30 млн. С повышением популярности HD DVD особенно актуальным становится быстрое декодирование форматов H. 264 и VC-1.<br /><br />К основным особенностям чипа EMMA4 относится двухпроцессорная 64-разрядная архитектура, оптимизация для потоковых вычислений и работы с потоковым видео, декодеры звука DTS-HD. Для разработки ПО подходит platformOVIA, специально созданная NEC для программирования подобных чипов. Производители оборудования могут заказать EMMA4 уже сейчас по цене $200. NEC планирует к апрелю этого года выйти на объём производства в 300 тыс чипов в месяц.
