19 декабря 2006 года в РИА Новости состоялась пресс-конференция, посвященная анализу российского рынка индустрии электронных развлечений и первым шагам специализированных мероприятий в России в области компьютерных игр. Её организатором выступила компания «Смайл-Экспо» (выставка GameX).<br /><br />В рамках пресс-конференции впервые в России были продемонстрированы приставки нового поколения Nintendo Wii и Sony Playstation 3. Журналисты смогли не только увидеть консоли, но и опробовать их в игре. Сенсационное заявление сделал Борис Романов, генеральный менеджер по дистрибуции компании Vellod, официальный представитель Sony PlayStation 3 в России: «Мы очень довольны, что выставка «GameX 2007» будет проводиться в то время, когда Sony PlayStation 3 появится в России (9–11 марта 2007), и очень рады тому, что будем участвовать в этой выставке».<br /><br />Пресс-конференция привлекла большое внимание средств массовой информации. Присутствовало около 30 представителей специализированных и бизнес-изданий, интернет порталов, ТВ и радио.
