Broadcom сделала серьезную заявку на лидерство в сфере цифрового стандарта HDTV, представив микросхему BCM3563, изготовленную по 65-нанометровой технологии и полностью поддерживающую видео с разрешением 1080p.

При этом подчеркивается, что впервые подобное устройство с полной поддержкой HD-видео реализовано в виде единого чипа. Новый продукт поддерживает аналоговый стандарт NTSC, североамериканский цифровой стандарт ATSC и стандарт цифрового кабельного телевидения. Помимо всего прочего, представители компании заявили о поддержке опции «картинка в картинке» и ряда других. В итоге BCM3563 можно рассматривать как интегрированное решение формата HDTV, сочетающее многофункциональность и высокое качество.

«Борьба в сегменте HDTV подогревается высоким спросом на дисплеи с разрешением 1080p. Расширение предлагаемой линейки продуктов даст толчок этому растущему рынку, и Broadcom пытается сместить производственные приоритеты в направлении сегмента HD 1080p», – заявил известный аналитик Мишель Абрахам (Michelle Abraham).

HD-формат с разрешением картинки 1080p (разрешение 1920 х 1080 пикселей в режиме прогрессивной развёртки) считается высшим стандартом качества в стандарте HDTV. В настоящий момент производителям HD-телевизоров, DVD-проигрывателей, игровых приставок и аналогичной продукции представилась хорошая возможность расширить рыночную нишу этого формата. «Телевизор-в-чипе» от Broadcom может использоваться в самом разном оборудовании формата HD 1080p и обеспечивать высочайшее качество изображения и звука, идёт ли речь об аналоговом или цифровом вещании, заявили в компании.

К тому же, реализация 65-нанометровой технологии позволяет интегрировать в чип значительно больше функциональных возможностей, улучшает технические характеристики и снижает суммарное энергопотребление, что, в итоге, уменьшает суммарную стоимость производства.
