Один из крупнейших тайваньских производителей ЖК-панелей компания Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) планирует выпуск новых 26- и 32-дюймовых телевизионных дисплеев с подсветкой на базе флуоресцентных ламп с горячим катодом HCFL (hot-cathode fluorescent lamps). Не так давно CMO сообщала о внедрении HCFL-подсветки от Philips в 42-дюймовые ЖК-панели, которые освежат модельный ряд телевизоров в 2007 году. Голландская компания станет поставщиком ламп и в этот раз. Новые 26- и 32-дюймовые телевизоры на базе панелей с лампами HCFL, как и 42-дюймовые аппараты, ожидаются в продаже в следующем году. <br />По сравнению с традиционной подсветкой на флуоресцентных лампах с холодным катодом CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent lamps) система на лампах HCFL обладает большей яркостью и меньшим энергопотреблением. При этом разница в их стоимости несущественная. Бесспорно, применение ламп с горячим катодом является очередным этапом в эволюции подсветки телевизионных ЖК-панелей, которые находятся в ожидании удешевления светодиодных систем.
