На выставке DigitalLife Electronics представители HD DVD Promotional Group рассказали об успехах нового оптического формата, а также будущих планах по его развитию. По официальным данным, в августе было распродано в три раза больше HD DVD, чем Blu-ray. <br /><br />Главным бестселлером на этом диске стал фильм «The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift»: почти 30% тиража выкупили за первую неделю! Эти показатели, определённо заинтересуют производителей, которые пока не знают, какому формату нужно отдать предпочтение. К рождеству на полках магазинов появится уже 80 тайтлов на HD DVD. <br /><br />Поставщики возлагают большие надежды на 200-долларовый HD DVD-привод для Xbox 360, который совсем скоро появится в продаже. Вместе с устройством потребитель получит дистанционку и копию художественного фильма «King Kong». К тому же вскоре должен состояться релиз HD DVD-плееров второго поколения от Toshiba - HD-A2 и HD-XA2 (с поддержкой высочайшего разрешения 1920 x 1080). <br /><br />Сейчас HD DVD поддерживают Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Warner Home Video, Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment, HBO, New Line Home Entertainment, Rhino Entertainment, Image Entertainment, The Weinstein Company, Brentwood и HDNET.
