Не успела начаться массовая продажа ноутбуков Sony, оснащённых оптическим приводом нового поколения типа Blu-ray, как ASUS анонсирует своеобразный ответ для сторонников конкурирующего лагеря. Ноутбук ASUS W2P будет представлять собой мультимедийного монстра с 17" экраном, весом в 3.31 кг и приводом HD DVD. Разумеется, работает это чудо на базе новейших мобильных процессоров Intel Core 2 Duo. <br />В качестве ОС ASUS W2P использует Windows XP Media Center Edition, а для комфортной работы ноутбук оснащён 2 GB оперативной памяти типа DDR2. Для просмотра фильмов в HD-качестве предусмотрено высокое разрешение у 17" дисплея - WUXGA (1920x1200). Учитывая, что разрешение фильма на HD DVD в максимальном качестве может достигать 1920x1080, назвать разрешение избыточным язык не поворачивается. Для приёма телепередач служит комбинированный аналого-цифровой ТВ-тюнер. Довешает картину мультимедийного совершенства видеоадаптер ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 с 256 MB собственной памяти, выходом HDMI с поддержкой HDCP. Акустика в ASUS W2P также не подкачала – 4 динамика окружающего звука и сабвуфер. <br /><br />Беспроводные коммуникации в ноутбуке представлены адаптерами беспроводной сети 802.11a/b/g и Bluetooth 2.0 EDR. Время появления ASUS W2P и его предполагаемая стоимость пока не сообщаются.
