Калифорнийская NVIDIA до середины августа собирается обновить видеокарты GeForce 7900 GTX / GT путем введения поддержки HDCP, специальной технологии защиты цифрового контента. HDCP является частью стандарта HDMI в современной его версии. Благодаря распространению данной технологии в секторе персональных компьютеров, производители приводов и носителей будут охотнее предлагать новые модели с поддержкой HD DVD, Blu-ray и HDTV. Дело в том, что видеокарты без поддержки HDCP не смогут адекватно передать видеоконтент высокой четкости, уменьшая количество строк с 1080 до 540.<br />NVIDIA в ближайшее время планирует начать выпуск новых ревизий видеочипов. Сообщается, что младшее семейство GeForce 7600 и 7300 будет переведено на 80-нм техпроцесс, что создаст благоприятную ситуацию для внедрения новых функций. Тем не менее, несмотря на увеличение функциональности видеочипов, поддержка HDMI для карт начального уровня будет опциональной.<br />
