Компания Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Inc. на одной из выставок продемонстрировала первый в мире HDTV телевизор на основе лазеров. По технологии, экран состоит из множества полупроводниковых лазеров красного, зеленого и синего цветов, которые управляются особым процессором передачи данных от Texas Instruments. Данная технология преподносится в качестве нового достижения в секторе телевизоров большой диагонали, позволяющего достигать впечатляющих характеристик не только по цветопередаче и яркости, но и по размерам продуктов.<br /><br />По данным компании, лазерная технология позволяет добиться более широкого цветового охвата и глубины цветов, чем любая существующая на данный момент технология, включая светодиодные дисплеи. Фактически гамма в 1,8 раза шире характерной для LCD телевизоров. Тем не менее, разработчики не собираются останавливаться на достигнутом. В последствии можно ожидать создания телевизоров с увеличенной яркостью и уменьшенными габаритами. Конкретные характеристики телевизоров, к сожалению, не сообщаются, лишь упоминается, что они будут относиться к премиум классу, в котором они способны поднять планку потребительских качеств на новый уровень.
