По словам старшего вице-президента Intel по маркетингу Шона Малони (Sean Maloney), в некоторых магазинах возврат нетбуков доходит до 30%. Это происходит в связи с тем, что магазины осуществляют неправильное позиционирование данного товара, предлагая его как ноутбуки. Однако возможности нетбуков существенно меньше по сравнению с обычными лэптопами. Фактически, покупателей вводят в заблуждение – в этом и заключается ошибка.

Корпорация Intel намерена провести четкую черту между обычными ноутбуками и нетбуками, позволяющими разве что выходить в Сеть. Так, например, компания продемонстрировала плавное воспроизведение HD-видео на лэптопе, однако нетбук не смог справиться с этой задачей качественно.

Кроме того, летом 2009 г. компания собирается выпустить на рынок новые модели ноутбуков с процессорами категории CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage – потребительские решения с низким потреблением энергии). Ожидается, что это будут модели с диагональю экрана 12 и 13 дюймов в тонком корпусе. Производительность таких компьютеров будет выше, чем у нетбуков. А их стоимость составит порядка $700-1200.
