К примеру, при работе на открытом воздухе, когда на экран попадают прямые солнечные лучи, лампа подсветки может быть отключена, за счет чего и будет достигаться существенная экономия энергии. <br /><br />Мэри Лу Джепсен (Mary Lou Jepsen), основательница Pixel Qi и бывший технический директор проекта OLPC, отмечает, что новая методика позволит либо добиться увеличения времени автономной работы ноутбуков либо уменьшит их вес и толщину за счет применения батарей меньшей емкости. Пробные поставки ЖК-панелей с «естественной» подсветкой Pixel Qi рассчитывает организовать в течение нескольких месяцев: на начальном этапе будут доступны дисплеи с диагональю 10 дюймов, которые найдут применение в нетбуках. Первые портативные компьютеры с экранами Pixel Qi могут появиться на рынке ближе к середине года. <br /><br />Напомним, что в перспективе компания Pixel Qi рассчитывает создать экраны, которые позволят ноутбукам работать в автономном режиме без подзарядки до 20 и даже 40 часов. Основой таких дисплеев станет электронная бумага.
