Используя трехслойную технологию такой диск емкостью 100 гигабайт позволяет вместить два стандартных диска. Новый диск может показаться несколько дорогим ($57), но нужно учесть, что на нем можно будет хранить около 9 часов HD контента.<br /><br />Первые BDXL диски появятся в магазинах 30 июля. К сожалению их нельзя использовать с обычными Blu-ray плеерами, а придется прикупить плеер с поддержкой BDXL. В настоящее время есть только один такой плеер Sharp BD-HDW770/70. Вслед за трехслойными BDXL дисками появятся четырехслойные емкостью 128 гигабайт.
