Новая версия Bluetooth будет интересна в первую очередь для производителей компактной электроники. Вместе с тем этот интерфейс появился уже и в некоторых моделях телевизоров и ресиверов.<br /><br />Cкорость передачи в новой версии осталась прежней  – 24 мегабита в секунду (3 мегабайта в секунду). Новая спецификация поддерживает шифрование по стандарту  AES-128, расстояние между взаимодействующими устройствами расширено до 100 метров, время ожидания снижено до 3 миллисекунд. <br /><br />И, самое главное, Bluetooth устройства смогут работать в трех режимах: стандартном, скоростном и экономичном. В процессе функционирования режим работы может изменяться. Например,  для передачи данных пульт управления может перейти из экономичного режима в скоростной. <br />Новые продукты с поддержкой Bluetooth 4.0 могут появиться на рынке в конце этого года и в начале следующего.
