Сейчас там занимаются проблемами перехода на цифровое вещание. Но есть и планы разработки конкурентоспособных телеприемников.<br /><br />Первый, разработанный  МНИТИ в 1953 году 12 программный телевизор «Авангард»  был крупным шагом вперед, в сравнении с используемыми тогда трехпрограммными телевизорами «КВН». Затем был создан первый в СССР транзисторный телевизор «Спутник», конкурировавший с моделями Sony на международной выставке в 1958 году в Брюсселе.<br /><br />Сегодня специалистами института разработаны цифровые приставки для подключения к цифровым телеканалам старых аналоговых телевизоров. А также коллективные точки доступа для многоквартирных домов, которые обойдутся   для одной квартиры   всего лишь в 500 рублей.<br /><br />Занимаются в институте и проблемой разработки современного телевизора. Во времена СССР в стране производилось 12 млн. телевизоров в год. Нынешний рынок России оценивается в 7 миллионов. Вернуть хотя бы часть этого рынка  одна из основных задач института. Удастся ли ее решить, покажет ближайшее время.
