Плоские дисплеи на основе новой технологии разрабатывает американская компания Priysm – лидер в разработке широкоформатных лазерно-люминофорных дисплеев (LPD).

В дисплеях этой фирмы лазерный луч зажигает расположенные на поверхности экрана красные, зеленые и голубые люминофорные ячейки. Энергопотребление таких LPD дисплеев примерно в десять раз меньше, чем у современных жидкокристаллических.

Компания не раскрывает пока детали технологии и предполагаемую стоимость конечных продуктов. Продолжаются разработки и тестирование существующих образцов. Так существующий LPD дисплей в разрешении 1920x1200 пиксел имеет размер по диагонали 142 дюйма, при этом состоит из модулей, скомпонованных в матрицу 6x5.
