В прошлом году права на использование этой системы получили Sony, Canon, Funai и некоторые другие производители видеоаппаратуры. Новая файловая система позволяет увеличить размер сохраняемых во флэш-памяти файлов.<br /><br />exFAT, в сравнении с прежней FAT, имеет ряд преимуществ, включая возможность обрабатывать файлы размером более 32 Гбайт (сегодня лимит 4 Гбайта) и сохранять более 1000 файлов в одной папке. Новая файловая система будет совместима с вновь разрабатываемыми для компьютеров операционными системами Microsoft.   <br />
