Популярный не у нас сетевой ресурс Netflix вскоре предложит для своих клиентов HD видео (1080p) в сопровождении пятиканального звука (5.1 surround). Официальные источники пока не заявляли, в каких количествах будет доступен подобный контент, но по данным сетевого ресурса Gizmodo — около 6 процентов от предлагаемого сегодня потокового видео в HD формате.

Неизвестны пока и окончательные требования к ширине канала. Принимая во внимание, что Microsoft уже использует подобную технологию для своего сервиса 1080p Instant On videos on Zune Marketplace, требующую 3 Мбит/с, в данном случае нужно будет около 4,5 Мбит/с. А если использовать HD формат 720p, ширина полосы значительно сужается.
