Ещё в сентябре компания HDI, специализирующаяся на разработке и конструировании различного рода оборудования, продемонстрировала собственную технологию производства трёхмерных проекционных дисплеев 3D Projection Display Technology с поддержкой более высокого разрешения, нежели предписано стандартами видео высокой чёткости. Три года интенсивных исследований и разработок в лабораториях HDI воплотились в 100-дюймовый проекционный дисплей, который способен демонстрировать как двухмерное, так и трёхмерное изображение с разрешением 1920×1080 точек и прогрессивной развёрткой. Но главная особенность новинки заключается в том, что в качестве источника света разработчик использовал лазеры.

На днях представители калифорнийской компании озвучили диапазон цен на свою 100-дюмовую новинку. На момент начала продаж, запланированных на рождество следующего года, розничная стоимость дисплея составит от 10000 до 15000 американских долларов. Едва ли этот ценник можно назвать очень привлекательным, но в сравнении, например, со 103-дюймовым плазменным телевизором Panasonic за 75000 мёртвых президентов, стоимость аналогичного по диагонали телевизора HDI, мягко говоря, кажется уже не столь высокой.
