Немецкая компания DigiRights Solutions (DRS) из Дармштадта показала, что владельцы прав на интеллектуальную собственность могут заработать на два порядка больше от нелегальных загрузок, чем от iTunes и подобных сервисов. DRS занимается антипиратской помощью медиакорпорациям и обладает достаточной статистикой, чтобы заявить, что незаконное получение копий цифровых продуктов выгоднее по сравнению с соблюдением всеми участниками обмена информацией буквы закона.<br /><br />Для начала компания, которая не прочь нажиться на неискоренимом пиратстве, должна позаботиться о программном обеспечении, которое способно фиксировать незаконную загрузку контента. Подозреваемым в нарушении лицам посылаются сообщения с требованием возместить ущерб. Сумма обычно находится в пределах нескольких сот долларов за каждый инцидент. Неясно, какое количество прибыли на самом деле удаётся извлечь путём подобной деятельности, но представленные DRS цифры следующие. Компания требует заплатить $650 за одну загрузку. Из этих денег 80% остаётся у «коллекторов» и уходит якобы на административные затраты, оплату адвокатов и другие направления, а 20% принадлежит правообладателям. Таким образом, за каждый нелегально скачанный файл последние получают $130.<br /><br />Если обычная покупка музыкальной композиции обходится в $1, то получается 130-кратный выигрыш. Безусловно, выплат удаётся добиться не от каждого нарушителя, но около 25% людей, как заявляет DRS, расстаются с «штрафной» суммой без вопросов. В месяц компания отслеживает около 5000 тыс. загрузок одного произведения без соответствующей оплаты. Несложные подсчёты показывают, что для прибыли в размере $162,5 тыс., обеспеченной теми самыми 25%, нужна была бы во много раз большая легальная активность онлайн-покупателей. Нет полных данных о всех аспектах такого бизнеса, а детали, такие как стоимость одной загрузки и запрашиваемое возмещение ущерба, в разных случаях будут отличаться, но общая картина понятна. Пока компании наподобие DRS распространяются только в Германии и Великобритании, но экспансия высокотехнологичных «коллекторов» может затронуть и остальной мир.
