На выставке CEATEC 2009 японская компания Mitsubishi Electric продемонстрировала свою последнюю разработку — гигантский OLED экран Diamond Vision с диагональю 155 дюймов. При этом сам экран, словно мозаика, составлен из 720 небольших OLED панелей размером 10 х 10 см. Используя подобную технологию, в принципе можно создать OLED экран сколь угодно большого размера, изображение на котором по яркости и насыщенности, а также в плане разрешения намного превосходит возможности традиционных LCD и LED дисплеев. Правда, смотреть на такой модульный экран лучше всего с почтительного расстояния, поскольку при ближайшем рассмотрении изображение на нем распадается на красную, зеленую и синюю составляющую. Mitsubishi планирует со временем начать использовать такие OLED экраны в системах цифровых рекламных и информационных панелей и мониторах, размещенных в общественных местах, а также в информационных табло в поездах и автобусах. Однако для этого придется удешевить производство OLED панелей и увеличить срок их эксплуатации, сейчас составляющий всего около двух с половиной лет.
