Ситуация, когда к видеосистеме сложно или попросту невозможно подвести Ethernet-кабель, знакома многим. С появлением проигрывателей Blu-ray, эта проблема для многих киноманов стала поистине первостепенной, так как для полноценного функционирования многих современных дисков, Интернет необходим. Учитывая необходимость реализации функции альтернативного подключения своих Blu-ray проигрывателей к локальной сети, компания Sony объявила о возможности расширения соответствующего функционала для нового BD-плеера BDP-N460. Начиная с октября месяца, каждый желающий сможет приобрести рекомендованный производителем беспроводной мост Cisco Linksys Wireless-N Ethernet Bridge, при помощи которого можно будет интегрировать проигрыватель в локальную сеть и, таким образом, обеспечить ему доступ в сеть Интернет. Не исключается, что беспроводные устройства производства других компаний также будут поддерживаться. Но какие именно — не сообщается.

Цена решения (в США, конечно), включающего в себя плеер и беспроводной мост, будет весьма доступной — 330 американских долларов. Из них за плеер придётся выложить $250, а за мост — $80. Стоит также упомянуть, что Sony BDP-N460, выходящий в октябре,будет первым проигрывателем, поддерживающим сервис VOD Bravia Internet Video.К концу года производитель планирует добавить в список возможностей BDP-N460 сервис Netflix.
