Он позволяет снимать видео FullHD при 30 кадрах в секунду, но при этом, что примечательно, имеет физическое разрешение всего в 2 мегапиксела, что соответствует видеоформату. Таким образом, использование полного кадра матрицы в режиме видео, а не её части, как обычно, позволило добиться лучших характеристик при съёмке в условиях плохой освещённости и, соответственно, меньшей «зашумлённости» картинки. Использование технологии КМОП, а не более распространённой ПЗС при создании сенсора позволило добиться приемлемых результатов съёмки при освещении менее 15 lux, что можно сравнить с плохо освещённой комнатой.<br /><br />Кроме того, новый сенсор даёт возможность снимать видео и в режиме 720p при 60 кадрах в секунду и 640&#215;480 при 120 кадрах в секунду. Обладая весьма скромными габаритами, OV2710 без труда войдёт не только в компактную видеокамеру, но и в мобильный телефон или веб-камеру. Серийное производство OV2710 начнётся в сентябре.<br /><br />Примечательно также, что компания OmniVision является поставщиком сенсоров для iPhone 3GS. Но будет ли Apple использовать модель OV2710 в своих телефонах пока неизвестно.<br />
