Представители студии Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment сообщили о продлении своей программы по выпуску комбинированных релизов, так называемых Combo Packs, до декабря 2010 года. Напомним, что в комплекты Combo Packs всегда входят две версии фильма — одна на DVD, другая на Blu-Ray.

В основе данной стратегии студии — стремление к унификации продаваемых релизов. И, как следствие, к увеличению продаж дисков, которые можно воспроизводить не только на Blu-Ray проигрывателях, но и на старых DVD-плеерах.

По мнению представителей Disney, на сегодняшний день, большинство потребителей относятся к этой инициативе весьма положительно. Согласно опросу, проведённому по заказу студии агентством Lieberman Research Worldwide, 77% респондентов, планирующих в недалёком будущем приобрести Blu-Ray проигрыватели, заявили, что подобные комбинированные релизы являются для них наиболее предпочтительными, нежели покупка идентичных по содержанию DVD и Blu-Ray в отдельности.

«После выпуска первого комбинированного релиза в конце 2008 года, мы стали свидетелями огромного интереса пользователей к данному продукту. Ведь теперь полноценные во всех отношениях релизы можно приобрести за вполне разумные деньги, что отвечает чаяниям и жизненным принципам большинства людей» — заявил президент Disney Боб Чапек. «Комбинированные релизы Disney — это идеальное соотношение цены, качества и универсальности, упакованные одну коробку.»
