Всего за указанный период было продано 9 млн носителей против 4,8 млн год назад. Продажи дисков выросли несмотря на то, что их стоимость по-прежнему остается высокой, отмечают аналитики. <br /><br />В настоящее время в США можно приобрести проигрыватели Blu-ray по цене $200, а диски за $10. Такие цены вполне устраивают покупателей, ведь они получают более высокое разрешение и новые впечатления от просмотра фильмов. <br /><br />По прогнозам ассоциации EMA, 2012 г. станет для формата Blu-ray решающим: диски Blu-ray впервые перегонят по объемам продаж DVD. Рынок Blu-ray-дисков за этот срок вырастет фантастически - в 36,5 раз, и к 2012 г. составит $9,5 млрд. <br /><br />Со временем Blu-ray уступит сервису «видео по требованию» (VOD), то есть доставке фильмов через интернет, считает ряд экспертов. Согласно прогнозу SNL Kagan, к 2014 г. Blu-ray станет доминирующим носителем распространения фильмов в домашней киноиндустрии. Но через три года к 2017 г. уступит эту позицию VOD. <br /><br />
