Кроме того, диски SSD легче и не производят шума при работе. Однако их стоимость пока весьма высока: так, установка в ноутбук накопителя на базе флеш-памяти вместо HDD может прибавить к стоимости компьютера от 100 до 600 долларов в зависимости от емкости. <br /><br />Менеджер по маркетингу флеш-продуктов Samsung Semiconductor Брайан Бирд (Brian Beard) объясняет, что и винчестеры, и твердотельные накопители обладают некоей базовой стоимостью, складывающейся из цены печатной платы, корпуса и других компонентов. В случае с жесткими дисками увеличение емкости или повышение скорости вращения шпинделя не слишком сильно отражаются на конечной стоимости изделия. Что касается SSD, то у них наращивание емкости приводит практически к линейному росту цены. <br /><br />Вместе с тем г-н Бирд подчеркивает, что в течение последних пяти лет стоимость микрочипов флеш-памяти ежегодно снижалась на 40-60%. Такая тенденция, по мнению представителя "Самсунга", сохранится и в будущем. Поэтому, полагает Брайан Бирд, уже через несколько лет цена хранения одного гигабайта информации на твердотельном накопителе уменьшится до уровня, характерного для жестких дисков. <br />
