Новый чипсет Intel GN40 не дружит с Blu-ray

Новый чипсет Intel GN40, предназначенный для использования с процессором Atom, не будет поддерживать работу с HD-видео, записанным на диски Blu-ray, сообщает Fudzilla со ссылкой на заявление представителей Intel.

В Intel подчеркивают, что чипсет сможет работать с видео высокой четкости с разрешением 1080р. Однако это относится, например, к трансляциям в интернете, но не к фильмам на дисках Blu-ray. Дело в том, что для проигрывания последних требуется больше ресурсов.

Ранее представители Intel заявляли, что GN40 позволит работать с HD-видео. Однако они не уточняли, о видео какого разрешения идет речь, также не сообщалось и о том, сможет ли GN40 работать с дисками Blu-ray.

Одним из основных конкурентов GN40 является платформа Nvidia Ion. По данным Nvidia, она поддерживает как воспроизведение видео высокой четкости с разрешением 1080р, так и диски Blu-ray.
