Samsung обещает продвинуть OLED-технологию в массы

Компания Samsung по-прежнему считает, что вполне может приступить к массовому производству OLED-телевизоров в 2009 г., сообщает британское издание TechRadar. Осенью 2007 г. южнокорейский производитель электроники заявил, что собирается приступить к продажам своего первого светодиодного телевизора через два года, однако экономический кризис должен был помешать этим планам.

В настоящее время изготавливать светодиодные панели выгодно лишь при небольших диагоналей для портативных устройств. Чтобы выйти на точку безубыточности в производстве панелей для телевизионных устройств, нужно, чтобы мощность линий составила не менее 3 млн панелей в год. Достигнуть этой цифры Samsung планирует уже в этом году.

Сейчас компания Samsung SDI, входящая в группу Samsung, способна выпускать 2 млн OLED-панелей ежегодно. Предполагается, что до конца года эта цифра увеличится вдвое, а в 2010 г. компания сможет выпускать 8 млн таких панелей. В результате до конца 2009 г. компания может приступить не только к выпуску светодиодных телевизоров, но и ноутбуков и мониторов с такими панелями. А в 2010 г., вероятно, сможет приступить к коммерческому выпуску гибких дисплеев.

Пока в мире есть лишь один светодиодный телевизор, который выпускает Sony. Он продается в Японии, США и Европе и имеет длину диагонали экрана всего 11 дюймов. По данным DisplaySearch, в 4-м квартале 2008 г. была продана всего лишь 1 тыс. таких телевизоров – примерно наполовину меньше, чем за аналогичный период 2007 г. И это при том, что в 2007 г. этот OLED-телевизор продавался только один месяц и только в Японии, а сейчас его можно купить в США и Европе. Sony уже показала также прототип OLED-ТВ с диагональю 27 дюймов.

Несмотря на текущую статистику продаж, аналитики предсказывают буквально взрыв нового рынка. По данным той же DisplaySearch, в 2011 г. будет продано около 3 млн OLED-телевизоров. Эксперты полагают, что в итоге новая технология заменит ЖК и «плазму», так как имеет ряд преимуществ: отсутствие ламп подсветки, более высокое качество изображения и др.

В октябре прошлого года Samsung продемонстрировала OLED-панель с диагональю 40 дюймов, толщиной 9 мм. Она имела физическое разрешение 1920 x 1080 пикселей (Full HD), контраст 1000000:1 и могла отображать 107% цветового диапазона NTSC.
