Panasonic, Philips и Sony сделают лицензирование Blu-ray проще

Производители электроники Panasonic, Philips и Sony договорились создать новую компанию, которая бы занималась выдачей лицензий на выпуск Blu-ray-продукции.

Новая компания, которая пока еще не имеет названия, позволит значительно упростить процедуру лицензирования, в том числе за счет того, что все документы будут выдаваться в одном месте. Это приведет к снижению стоимости носителей информации, плееров и рекордеров формата Blu-ray.

По мнению организаторов, создание новой фирмы позволит сократить расходы производителей на получение лицензий, желающих выпускать продукцию нового формата, примерно на 40%. В настоящий момент такие компании вынуждены обращаться к Panasonic, Philips и Sony по отдельности для получения всех разрешающих документов, пишет blu-ray.com.

Ожидается, что лицензирование Blu-ray-проигрывателя после создания новой организации сократится до $9,5 за одно устройство, рекордера – до $14, диска – до 11-15 центов, в зависимости от типа (BD, BD-R, BD-RE).
