В статье, под названием 'Сравнение HDTV сервисов'  указывается, что DirecTV обеспечивает своих подписчиков 104 HD каналами, в то время как сервис от Verizon’s FiOS TV предлагает 103 HD канала. <br /><br />Ситуация с кабельными операторами немного другая. Ввиду ограничения пропускной способности кабельные операторы не могут предоставить такое количество HD каналов. Тем не менее, такие операторы как  Time Warner Cable и Cablevision предоставляют некоторые HD каналы бесплатно. <br /><br />Что касается качества HD контента, то как DirecTV, так и Verizon предоставляют своим абонентам превосходную картинку.  <br />Основным спутниковым конкурентом для DirecTV является оператор Dish Network. Несмотря на то, что Dish Network уступает по количеству каналов (во многом из-за неудачного запуска своего спутника в начале прошлого года),  этот оператор стал первым вещателем формата 1080p. А недавно успешно запущенный спутник должен подтянуть Dish Network к лидерам американского HDTV рынка - DirecTV и Verizon.
