Когда Sony запускала PS3 – компания теряла примерно $200 с каждой проданной штуки – не смотря на тот факт, что цена составляла где-то $600. Как бы там ни было, с течением времени Sony смогла понизить стоимость производства системы, убрав совместимость с PS2 и переключившись на более эффективные чипы(65-nanometer chips). <br /><br />Компания iSuppli, которая немного подпортила запуск PS3, посчитав, что предполагаемая стоимость производства PS3 составляла более $840. Теперь они говорят, что стоимость производства PS3 уменьшилась на 53% - это около $445 за систему, которая продается по цене $400. Sony все еще теряет деньги на каждой проданной консоли, но в любом случае, это уже намного меньшие потери, чем компания несла раньше.<br /><br />Не только удешевление производства индивидуальных компонентов сыграло свою роль, но и попросту уменьшение количества деталей внутри современной PS3. Если верить iSuppli, получается, что количество деталей в PS3 упало с 4,048 до 2,820. С момента запуска, Sony основательно переработала PS3, чтобы включить в нее комбинированные чипы(combined chips). Падение цен на составляющие компоненты, также здорово помогло Sony: центральный процессор PS3, так называемый Cell processor, стоил $89 при запуске, но сейчас его стоимость составляет всего $46.<br /><br />Sony теперь может сделать небольшую передышку, учитывая даже тот факт, что надо дать резвый старт продажам PS3 в 2009 году. А нам вот, что интересно: начнут ли они подготавливать более агрессивную ценовою политику по отношению к конкурентам в будущем году. Мы надеемся на это – Sony надо найти способ сделать свою консоль более привлекательной для покупателей, причем, не заламывая цену.
