Пока неизвестно, когда появятся устройства, поддерживающие новую спецификацию. <br />Высокоскоростной Bluetooth 2.2 будет работать в соединении с Wi-Fi сетями или широкополосной связью UWB (Ultra-Wideband), для чего в устройстве должны появиться соответствующие радиомодули. В первом случае передача данных будет в 10 раз быстрее, чем у нынешних Bluetooth-устройств, а во втором - в 100 раз быстрее. Ожидается, что Bluetooth 2.2 позволит передавать потоковое видео, а также выводить большие объемы данных на печать. <br /><br />Почти в то же время Nokia Siemens Networks заявила об увеличении скорости передачи данных по сетям EDGE до 592 килобит в секунду. Новое решение является программным и позволит увеличить скорость в уже существующих сетях. Кроме того, Nokia Siemens готовит решение EGPRS 2B, которое ускорит передачу данных еще в два раза, до 1,2 мегабита в секунду. <br />
